“Chuuto saiyou, or mid-career recruitment, means recruitment activities targeting personnel who already have a certain amount of work experience at a company. Recruiting these kinds of mid-career candidates means that the company want to employ a work-ready person with a high level of expertise. In the past, Japanese major corporations have tended to prefer recruiting new graduates and usually don’t employ mid-career job seekers on a large scale. However, mid-career recruitment has gradually become more common in response to changes in employment practices.
