Kintai ; Attendance

Kintai(勤怠/きんたい) means “to work” and “to be absent,” but in a business context, it refers to an employee’s work status. Specifically, time and attendance records include the hours worked daily and monthly, whether the employee is late or absent, and whether the employee has vacation days.

Through time and attendance, the company calculates salaries, including overtime, and evaluates employees according to their tardiness and absenteeism. In many companies, employees record their attendance using cards (paper) called time cards or a web-based time card system.
