“Companies People Want to Join Today”- Survey reveals top companies

Many job seekers are interested in social networking sites as a way to find jobs. Also, there are many people who want to know what kind of companies are actively recruiting on social networking sites.

Such people would be interested in Linked-in’s recently published ranking, called “Companies People Want to Join Today (Top Companies).” Linked-in is the world’s largest social networking site focused on business, and currently boasts a user base of 610 million.

The ranking was created based on information from people who have used Linked-in to change jobs, as well as companies using the site to recruit workers. The data was analyzed based on factors such as “interest in a job post,” “interest in a company,” “attention paid to employees,” and “employee retention rate.”

According to the ranking, 6 of the 7 top companies were world-renowned internet or IT companies. Amazon.com was in 1st place, and Alphabet (Google) and a major company named GAFA were tied for 2nd. Following that, Oracle was in 4th place, Salesforce.com was in 5th, IBM was in 6th, and SAP was in 7th.

As Japanese companies are expanding overseas, the ranking featured Japanese corporations that are hiring more foreign talent. The only Japanese company that made it in the top 10 was Rakuten. However, the major medicine maker Takeda Pharmaceutical Company was in 12th place, and the major car company Nissan came in 18th. Increased globalization in Japan means that Japanese companies are expanding their recruitment methods with Linked-in and other sites.

Many internet and IT companies, even those which focus mainly on the Japanese market, also made it in the rankings. LINE came in 11th place, Yahoo in 19th, and Cyber Agent in 20th.

This ranking shows that job seekers’ values regarding work are becoming more diverse, and this is clearly having an impact on which companies people want to join. This is due to the younger generation of workers increasingly giving importance to individuality regarding finding employment, as well as changes to work environments, such as working style reform.

It is recommended that people searching for companies that employ a diverse range of workers use business social networking sites such as Linked-in.

This survey was conducted from February 1st, 2018 to January 31st, 2019. It was aimed at companies with a Japanese Linked-in presence that have more than 500 employees.
