“Referral” means “introduction” or “recommendation. In business, it refers to a business approach through referrals. For example, “referral hiring,” in which a person joins a company through an introduction from an acquaintance, and “referral marketing,” in which a person makes a purchase through an acquaintance’s introduction or word of mouth.
Especially in Japan, the number of companies that use referral recruitment has been increasing in recent years. Since the hiring is done through introductions by employees who know the company well, job seekers can get real information about the company, which is expected to reduce mismatches after hiring. In Japanese, it is called “employee introduction recruitment.
